Malawi Hosts Global Conference for SDA Institutions

In a significant milestone for the region, Malawi recently had the honour of hosting a prestigious World Global Health Conference specifically tailored for Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) institutions. This landmark event was organized by Loma Linda University, one of the world’s most esteemed institutions of higher learning, particularly renowned for its contributions to health education and research within the SDA community.

The conference took place at the scenic Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre, Malawi’s commercial capital, attracting a diverse and prominent gathering of SDA health professionals and administrators from across the globe. Delegates came from a wide array of countries, reflecting the international reach and collaborative spirit of the SDA health network. Among the nations represented were Nigeria, Togo, Mozambique, Cameroon, South Africa, the Philippines, Great Britain, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, the USA, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Lesotho.

This global assembly provided a vital platform for in-depth discussions on the current challenges facing SDA health institutions worldwide. Key topics on the agenda included overcoming institutional challenges, improving administration, enhancing financial management, and innovative strategies for resource mobilization. By sharing experiences and best practices, the conference sought to empower institutions to deliver better healthcare services aligned with the SDA philosophy of holistic health and compassionate service.

Notably, Malamulo College of Health Sciences, one of Malawi’s leading health training institutions affiliated with the SDA church, was among the local organizations actively participating in the conference.
